Rhea County Veterans Services Office Hours in Spring City — Rhea County Veterans Services is currently offering open office hours in Spring City at the American Legion Post 203 building, located on West Jackson Avenue, each Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon. Spring City American Legion Post 203 Meeting (8/15) — Spring City American Legion Post 203 will hold their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 15, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a covered dish dinner. Sale Creek High School Alumni Reunion & Dinner (8/17) — The alumni of Sale Creek High School will hold a Reunion and Dinner on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sale Creek Fire Department Community Room. Cost is $10 which will be collected at the door. Sock Hop 2019 at Walden’s Ridge Community Center (8/17) — The Walden’s Ridge Community Center, located at 5364 Dayton Mountain Highway in Dayton, will hold their Sock Hop 2019 on Saturday, Aug. 17, beginning at 5 p.m. The Kiuka Volunteer Fire Department will provide concessions. Admission is $5 per person and children under six will be admitted free. All proceeds will benefit the community center and the fire department. A prize will be awarded for best costume. Everyone is invited to attend.

Morgan Family Reunion (8/18) — The Morgan Family Reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 18, at Walden’s Ridge Community Center, located at 5634 Dayton Mountain Highway, beginning at 12 noon with lunch at 1 p.m. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a covered dish and any family history, and stay to enjoy some old-fashioned music and singing. Dayton Lodge #512 F. & A.M. Meeting (8/19) — Dayton Lodge #512 F. & A.M. will meet on Monday, Aug. 19, beginning at 7 p.m. at their Lodge, located on Second Avenue in Dayton. Lodge #512 meets the first and third Monday of each month

Dayton Lions Club Meeting (8/22) — The Dayton Lions Club will meet on Thursday, Aug. 22, at Amigo Restaurant, located at 4285 Rhea County Highway in Dayton, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are held the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast (8/24) — Civil Air Patrol 2A0 (Mark Anton) will host a Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at the Mark Anton Municipal Airport, located on New Union Road in Dayton on Saturday, Aug. 248. The all-you-can-eat cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 10. The event will be held rain or shine.

Spring City Care Center Art Show (8/29) — Spring City Care & Rehab Center, located at 354 Hinch Street in Spring City, will host an Art Show on Thursday, Aug. 29, from 2-4 p.m. The show will feature works of art created by residents for public viewing. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on the artwork. Refreshments will be available.

Blood Drive at FB Bank (8/29) — The Dayton branch of FB Bank, located on Market Street in Dayton, will host a Blood Assurance Blood Drive on Thursday, Aug. 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are strongly encouraged by not required. Spirit of the Veteran and Warrior Native AMerican Festival Meeting & Fundraiser (8/31) — The Spirit of the Veteran and Warrior Native American Festival will hold a meeting and potluck lunch at Dayton’s Point Park on Saturday, Aug. 31, beginning at noon followed by a fundraiser at 1:30 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to create their own Dreamcatcher from tree branches for a cost of $30. Rhea/Dayton Retired Teachers Meeting (9/10) — The Rhea/Dayton Retired Teachers will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Dayton Golf & Country Club’s Long Hollow Grill, located at 315 Payne Lane in Evensville, beginning at noon. The group is currently accepting donations for their scholarship fund. Donations may be made at FB Bank in Dayton.

Walk for Life Fundraiser (9/14) — The Care Center, located at 285 Main Street in Dayton, will host their annual “Walk in the Love” Walk for Life fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 14. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. in The Care Center parking lot. The event is free, however walkers are encouraged to collect sponsorships to help raise funds for the Center. This day-long event will feature, food and arts & crafts vendors, music and more. Everyone is invited to attend.

Hee Haw Show at Walden’s Ridge Community Center (10/4-10/12) — The Walden’s Ridge Community Center, located at 5364 Dayton Mountain Highway in Dayton, will hold their Fourth Annual Hee Haw Show on Friday, Oct. 4, Saturday, Oct. 5, Friday, Oct. 11, and Saturday, Oct. 12, beginning at 7 p.m. each evening. Children’s Re-Education Center Reunion (10/5 & 10/6) — The Children’s Education Center (Re-Ed) later re-named Smallwood, located at Moccasin Bend in Chattanooga, Tenn., will hold their annual Reunion for students, faculty and staff on Saturday, Oct. 5, and Sunday, Oct. 6, from 1 to 5 p.m. each day. Coffee and light pastries will be provided. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a lawn chair as well as any photos of the school during these years. RSVP by Sept. 26. Spring City Autumn Festival (10/12) — The Town of Spring City will host their annual Autumn Festival on Saturday, Oct. 12, beginning at 9 a.m. The event will include vendors, music and activities.

The Care Center’s Muddy Pumpkin 5K Run (10/26) — The Care Center will hold their annual Muddy Pumpkin 4K Run on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Rhea County Courthouse. Registration and pumpkin picking begins at 9:30 a.m. with the run starting at 10 a.m. Participants will run, wade and crawl through downtown Dayton, all while hauling their pumpkin. Preregistration begins Sept. 2 at a cost of $40 per person or $35 each for a group of 4 people. General registration will be held Oct. 1 through Oct. 26th at a cost of $45 dollars per person or $40 each for a group of 4 people. College students will receive $10 discount with student ID and for youth ages 6 to 12 the cost is $20 per person. Children ages 5 and under are free but will not receive a T-shirt or pumpkin. Proceeds from the run support The Care Center’s EDGE student education program. Christmas and the Spring City Depot (12/14) — The Town of Spring City will hold their annual Christmas at the Depot featuring the 56th annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include vendors, music, home and business decorating contests and a children’s pageant.
