Rhea County Veterans Services Office Hours in Spring City — Rhea County Veterans Services is currently offering open office hours in Spring City at the American Legion Post 203 building, located on West Jackson Avenue, each Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon. Movie in the Park at Kristopher’s Kingdom (7/13) — The Graysville Park Board will host a Movie in the Park on Saturday, July 13, at Kristopher’s Kingdom, located at 475 Black Track Road in Graysville, beginning at 9:30 p.m.

Watts Bar Yacht Club Meeting (7/13) — The Watts Bar Yacht Club will hold their monthly meeting on Saturday, July 13, at Terrace View Marina beginning at 5 p.m. (following the WBYC’s Poker Run fundraiser). A meal will not be provided, but attendees may order from the Terrace View menu at their own expense.

“The Addams Family Young” Auditions at Tennessee Valley Theatre (7/15 & 7/16) — The Tennessee Valley Theater, located at 184 West Jackson Avenue in Spring City, will hold auditions for their upcoming production of “The Addams Family Young” on Monday, July 15, and Tuesday. July 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. Roles are available for middle and high school age children. Those auditioning will preform a 2-minute spoken monologue and 90-second song. Spring City American Legion Post 203 Meeting (7/18) — Spring City American Legion Post 203 will hold their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, July 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a covered dish dinner. Native American Festival at Cherokee Removal Memorial Park (7/20) — The Cherokee Removal Memorial Park, located at 6800 Blythe Ferry Lane in Birchwood, Tenn., will hold a Native American Festival in honor of their 10-year anniversary. This free event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature vendors, drummers and dancers. Rick Bird will serve as Emcee. Everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Rhea County Historical and Genealogical Society Meeting (7/21) — The Rhea County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet on Sunday, July 21, at 2:30 p.m. in the General Sessions Courtroom on the first floor of the Rhea County Courthouse. Guest speaker will be Dr. Randy Moore, University of Minnesota professor and author of several books on the Scopes Trial.

Karaoke Night at Walden’s Ridge Community Center (7/20) — The Walden’s Ridge Community Center, located at 5364 Dayton Mountain Highway in Dayton, will host a Karaoke Night on Saturday, July 20. Roberts/Winnie/Pelfrey Family Reunion (7/21) — The Roberts/Winnie/Pelfrey family will hold a reunion on Sunday, July 21, at the Rhea County Fairgrounds, located off Eagle Lane in Evensville (behind the Rhea County Health Department). Lunch begins at 1 p.m. and all relatives and friends are invited. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a covered dish.

Grief is Not for Sissies Class & Support Group (7/22-8/26) — A “Grief is Not for Sissies” class and support group will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Spring City United Methodist Church each Monday beginning July 22 and continuing through Aug. 26, starting at 10 a.m. Led by trained grief counselor Rev. Dayton Lions Club Meeting (7/25) — The Dayton Lions Club will meet on Thursday, July 25, at Amigo Restaurant, located at 4285 Rhea County Highway in Dayton, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are held the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast (7/27) — Civil Air Patrol 2A0 (Mark Anton) will host a Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at the Mark Anton Municipal Airport, located on New Union Road in Dayton on Saturday, July 27. The all-you-can-eat cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 10. The event will be held rain or shine.

Art Fundraiser for Spirit of the Veteran and Warrior Native American Festival (7/27) — An Art Fundraiser for the Spirit of the Veteran and Warrior Native American Festival will be held Saturday, July 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. at ArtCrafters, located on Market Street in Dayton, Artist Robin Champagne will guide the participants in the creation of a Native American-themed work of art. Christmas and the Spring City Depot (12/14) — The Town of Spring City will hold their annual Christmas at the Depot featuring the 56th annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include vendors, music, home and business decorating contests and a children’s pageant.
