Alzheimer’s Support Group Meeting — An Alzheimer’s support group will meet at Veranda Assisted Living, located at 10055 Rhea County Highway in Dayton (adjacent to Life Care Center of Rhea County), at 2 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Rhea County Fair Association — The Rhea County Fair Association meets the second Tuesday of every month at the fairgrounds across from the high school in the Farm Credit building starting at 7 p.m. For information, call Harold Fisher at 423-280-8330.
Spring City Stitchers Meeting — The Spring City Stitchers will meet the first and fourth Monday of each month at the Audrey Pack Memorial Library Annex, located on West Rhea Avenue in Spring City. RCHS Class of 1970 Graduates Sought — The Rhea Central High School Class of 1970 is planning their 50th-Year Reunion for Saturday, June 13. Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast Postponed — Due to the current health crisis, the Civil Air Patrol 2A0 (Mark Anton) monthly Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast at the Mark Anton Municipal Airport has been postponed until further notice.
Rhea Springs Revival and “Cowboy” Eddie Long at Tennessee Valley Theatre Postponed — Due to the coronavirus public health issue, the Rhea Springs Revival concert scheduled for March 21st at Tennessee Valley Theatre in Spring City has been postponed to a yet undetermined later date. Updates will be provided as soon as they are available.
Rhea County Republican Party Meeting Cancelled — Due to the current health crisi, the Rhea County Republican Party monthly meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 2, at the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department Training Center, has been cancelled.
Rhea County Republican Party Reagan Day Dinner Cancelled — The Rhea County Republican Party annual Reagan Day Dinner scheduled for Saturday, April 4, at Rhea County High School in Evensville has been postponed and will be resheduled for a later time.
Legal Aid of East Tennessee Client Intake Interviews (3/24) — Legal Aid of East Tennessee will conduct local client intake interview sessions at the Rhea County Courthouse on Tuesday, March 24, beginning at 2 p.m. Legal Aid of East Tennessee is a free service for low income Tennesseans and senior Tennesseans with civil legal problems including consumer, housing, veteran’s benefits and government benefits issues such as food stamps, unemployment benefits and TennCare. Mobile Food Pantry (3/24) — The Chattanooga Area Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry will be at Dayton Church of God, located at 3314 Rhea County Highway in Dayton, on Tuesday, March 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. Quantities are limited and will be distributed while supplies last. Due to the current medical crisis, a Drive-Thru Only Distribution will be conducted. Attendees will not be permitted to leave their vehicles during the distibution process. Recipients must be present to receive food. Patrons receiving food on a recipient’s behalf must present the recipient’s valid I.D., and food stamp card (or disclose recipient’s household income).
Scam Prevention Presentation for Older Adults (3/25) — Rhea Richland Senion Neighbors, located at 241 West Alabama Avenue in Dayton, will host a presentation on Scam Prevention for Older Adults on Wednesday, March 25, beginning at 10 a.m. The presentation will include information on why scam prevention education is vital, which scams target older adults, scam-fighting resouces available and where to report scams and deceptive business practices. Dayton Lions Club Meeting (3/26) — The Dayton Lions Club will meet on Thursday, March 26, at El Toro Mexican Restaurant, located at 4285 Rhea County Highway in Dayton, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are held the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
Benefit Fundraiser for Edwin Emmitt Scates Jr. (3/28) — A Benefit Fundraiser for Edwin Emmitt Scates Jr. will be held Saturday, March 28, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Dayton, Point Park. Activities will include a yard sale, silent auction, cake walk, face painting, door prizes, meals for $6 per plate, live music by The Barely Kickin’ Band, and a car show. Car Show is by donations only and trophies will be awarded. Everyone is invited.
Graysville Easter Egg Hunt (4/11) — The Graysville Parks Board will hold their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 11, at Kristophers Kingdom, located at 475 Black Track Road in Graysville. Ages birth to three years old will hunt at 2 p.m. followed by ages four to seven at 2:15 p.m. and ages eight to 12 at 2:30 p.m. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures. Benefit Fundraiser for Ray Wilson & Jimmy Massengill (4/18) — A Fundraiser will be held for Graysville Deputy Fire Chief Ray Wilson and Graysville Firefighter Ray Massengill on Saturday, April 18, at Graysville Elementary School beginning at 11 a.m. Wilson is furrently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment at Erlanger while Massengill is receiving radiation treatment at CHI Memorial. The fundraiser will include a Cruise In and Fire Truck Expo. an auction. cake walks, and food plates.
