Free Tax Help From VITA in Spring City (2/7 - 3/27) — Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will provide free tax help and e-filing to the elderly, handicapped and low income every Friday from Feb. 7 to March 27 at the Audrey Pack Memorial Library Annex, located at 169 West Rhea Avenue in Spring City, between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Those interested are asked to bring a copy of last year’s tax return, all W-2 forms and other pertinent tax information. Alzheimer’s Support Group Meeting — An Alzheimer’s support group will meet at Veranda Assisted Living, located at 10055 Rhea County Highway in Dayton (adjacent to Life Care Center of Rhea County), at 2 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Upkeep Funds Sought for Dunn Cemetery — The Caretakers of the Dunn Cemetery are seeking funds to assist in the upkeep of the cemetery. Those wishing to contribute may call Mary Johnson at 423-533-2170.

Spring City Stitchers Meeting — The Spring City Stitchers will meet the first and fourth Monday of each month at the Audrey Pack Memorial Library Annex, located on West Rhea Avenue in Spring City. RCHS Class of 1970 Graduates Sought — The Rhea Central High School Class of 1970 is planning their 50th-Year Reunion for Saturday, June 13. OES Valentine “All You Can Eat” Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser (2/15) — Dayton Chapter No. 360 of the Order of the Eastern Star will hold a Valentine “All You Can Eat” Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Dayton Masonic Lodge located at 310 Second Avenue, beginning at 5 p.m. The meal will include homemade spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, desserts and beverages at a cost of $7 per plate. Spring City American Legion Post 203 Meeting (2/20) — Spring City American Legion Post 203 will hold their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 20, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a covered dish dinner. Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast (2/22) — Civil Air Patrol 2A0 (Mark Anton) will host a Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at the Mark Anton Municipal Airport, located on New Union Road in Dayton on Saturday, Feb. 22. The all-you-can-eat cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 10. The event will be held rain or shine.

Rhea/Dayton Retired Teachers Meeting (3/3) — The Rhea/Dayton Retired Teachers will meet on Tuesday, March 3, at the Dayton Golf & Country Club’s Long Hollow Grill, located at 315 Payne Lane in Evensville, beginning at noon. Special guest speaker will be Rhea County Historian Pat Hawkins Guffey. The group is currently accepting donations for their scholarship fund. Donations may be made at FB Bank in Dayton.

Scam Prevention Presentation for Older Adults (3/25) — Rhea Richland Senion Neighbors, located at 241 West Alabama Avenue in Dayton, will host a presentation on Scam Prevention for Older Adults on Wednesday, March 25, beginning at 10 a.m. The presentation will include information on why scam prevention education is vital, which scams target older adults, scam-fighting resouces available and where to report scams and deceptive business practices.
