Rhea/Dayton Retired Teachers Bake Sale Fundraiser (4/24) — The Rhea/Dayton Retired Teachers will hold a Bake Sale Fundraiser on Wednesday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Corner Market, located at the corner of Dayton Mountain Highway and Back Valley Road across from Rhea Central Elementary School. Proceeds will help fund a scholarship for a high school senior to pursue an education degree.

Dayton Lions Club Meeting (4/25) — The Dayton Lions Club will meet on Thursday, April 25, at Amigo Restaurant, located at 4285 Rhea County Highway in Dayton, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are held the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

Rhea County Drug Drop (4/27) — The Rhea County Anti Drug Coalition (RCAD), Rhea County United Way along with the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department and the Dayton and Spring City Police departments will hold a Drug Drop on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Wal-Mart in Dayton and the parking lot of the Municipal Building in Spring City. Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast (4/27) — Civil Air Patrol 2A0 (Mark Anton) will host a Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at the Mark Anton Municipal Airport, located on New Union Road in Dayton on Saturday, April 27. The all-you-can-eat cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 10. The event will be held rain or shine.

Hiwassee Island Informative Presentation (4/27) — The Cherokee Removal Memorial Park in Birchwood, Tenn., will host a presentation on Hiwassee Island on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 10 a.m. by TVA Archaeologist Erin Pritchard. The presentation will include history information and recent findings regarding the island.

Tennessee Valley Theatre Presents “Murder Room” (4/27-4/28) — The Tennessee Valley Theater will present their production of the crime thriller spoof “Murder Room” on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 28, beginning at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be reserved by calling 423-365-7529 or visiting www.tennesseevalleytheatre.com

Shepherd’s Cupboard Groundbreaking (4/27) — Spring City Church of God, located at 1912 Wassom Memorial Highway in Spring City, will hold a groundbreaking for their Shepherd’s Cupboard on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Shepherd’s Cupboard will be a food and clothing outreach ministry serving people in the area. Everyone is invited to attend.

Rhea County Republican Party Meeting (5/2) — The Rhea County Republican Party will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, May. 2 at the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department Training Center, located at 711 Eagle Lane in Evensville, beginning at 7 p.m. No Executive Committee meeting will be held.

Earring Making Class Fundraiser for Spirit of the Veteran and Warrior Native American Festival (5/3) — An Earring Making Fundraiser will be held at Paint the Town Pottery and Gifts, located on Market Street in Dayton, on Friday, May 3, beginning at 5:30 p.m. In this hands-on class, participants will create two to three pairs of earrings which they will keep. Cost is $30. Proceeds will benefit the Spirit of the Veteran and Warrior Native American Festival.

Paul May Comedy Show at Tennessee Valley Theatre (5/4) — The Tennessee Valley Theater will host a Comedy Show by Paul May on Saturday, May 4, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be reserved by calling 423-365-7529 or visiting www.tennesseevalleytheatre.com.

RCHS Cheerleader Princess Brunch Fund-raiser (5/4) — The Rhea County High School Cheerleaders will hold a Princess Brunch fund-raiser on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the Rhea Middle School Cafeteria. In addition to brunch, the cheerleaders will have games, face painting, a fashion show, a dance party, a story time and the opportunity the have photos taken with a favorite character. Those attending are encouraged to dress as their favorite character or princess. Cost is $10 per child and $5 for adults.

Dayton American Legion Post 100 Meeting (5/6) — Dayton American Legion Post 100 will hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 6, beginning at 6 p.m. with a Meet & Greet fellowship followed by a meal provided by the Ladies Auxiliary at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m. All Legionnaires and honorably discharged veterans are welcome to attend. Shake The Lake 2019 in Spring City (6/29) — The Spring City Parks and Recreation Board will hold their annual Shake The Lake celebration on Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Veterans Park. Mister and Miss Firecracker Pageant registration opens at 9 a.m. with the pageant beginning at 10 a.m. Sign-ups for the Watermelon and Pickle Eating Contests start at noon with the Pickle Eating Contest beginning at 1 p.m. followed by the Watermelon Eating Contest at 1:30 p.m. The Duck Race will be held at 5 p.m. Music and live bands will perform from 5:30 p.m. until dark when a fireworks display concludes the day’s activities.
