Rhea Co. lands award from state historical society

Rhea County was selected to receive a 2019 Certificate of Merit Award from the Tennessee Historical Society on May 22.

This state historical society award is in the category of Historic Preservation for the work done to preserve the National Historic Landmark Rhea County Courthouse.

The presentation ceremony took place at the Clover Bottom Mansion in Nashville, which houses the Tennessee Historical Commission offices. Representing Rhea County Executive George Thacker at the award ceremony were Rhea County Historian Pat Guffey and Rhea County Archivist Jacob Ellis.
