Billy Joe Bishop, 53, of Dayton, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, at Rhea Medical Center.

Billy was a lifelong resident of Rhea County and of the Baptist faith. He attended Rhea County High School. He liked to work puzzle books and loved the outdoors and nature.

He was preceded in death by parents, James Bishop and Beulah Griffin Bishop; brothers, Jimmy and Jessie Bishop; and sisters, Maggie Nevels, Peggy Thomas, Dorothy Reed and Kathy Higginbottom.

He is survived by sisters, Geneva Webb, Stella Hughes and Alice Hernandez, all of Dayton; brothers, Carl Bishop, Ray Bishop and Bobby Bishop, all of Dayton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Conley officiating. Interment will be at Spence Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, from noon to 2 p.m.
