Hilda Marie Winkler, 97, of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., formerly of Dayton, went to be with her Lord early Wednesday morning, Oct. 2, 2019, at her home in Mt. Juliet, Tenn. She was born on Jan. 7, 1922, in Asheville, N.C., the daughter of the late John Wesley and Mittie Ann Ingle Holt. Hilda was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Anna Mae Butler and Edith Jenkins.
Hilda lived in Dayton from 1965 until moving to Mt. Juliet, Tenn., in 2011. She was a graduate of Biltmore High School at Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C.. She served as a pastor’s wife at Ogden Road Baptist Church where her husband, Rev. Alan Winkler, was a long-time pastor. Hilda and Alan went to Israel from August to December 1977. She was active in Salem Homemakers where she was a former president one year and also delivered Meals on Wheels. Hilda enjoyed cooking and crafts.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Rev. Alan Winkler, of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; and her two daughters, Connie (Tim) Slocum, of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Annette (Owen) Egeberg, of Scottsburg, Ind.
Funeral services for Hilda will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at Ogden Road Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Kamer officiating. She will be laid to rest in Ogden Road Baptist Church Cemetery on Dayton Mountain.
