Jo Ann Powell, 80, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019, at her home.
A longtime resident of Spring City, she was the daughter of the late Estle E. Standifer and Juanita Morgan Standifer Rhinehart. Jo Ann and her husband, John, moved from Morristown, Tenn., to the Spring City community in 1977. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Spring City, the Ruth Sunday School Class and also served on the kitchen committee. Jo Ann was a volunteer with Spring City Care and Rehabilitation Center, the S.C.A.N. Program and the Meals on Wheels Program.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, John Powell, of Spring City; her children, Ann Scoggins, of Spring City, Estle A. Powell, of Garland, Texas, and Carol (David) Hatela, of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; sister, Betty Jane “B. J.” (Wyndell) Black, of Marietta, Ga.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon H. Tannahill and Rev. Luke Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Spring City Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
