Howard B. “H.B.” Rankin, 87, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 at his residence.
Born in Pikeville, Tenn., on Aug. 26, 1932, H. B. was the son of the late John Marshall and Daisy Elaine Pitman Rankin. He was a graduate of Spring City High School and Tennessee Technological University. H. B. was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was an electrical engineer and retired from Tennessee Valley Authority in 1987. H. B. was a member of Spring City United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Spring City Library Board, Spring City Cemetery Association Board, American Legion Post No. 203 and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim and John Rankin; and his granddaughter, Carrie Clabough.
Survivors include his wife, Polly J. Rankin, of Spring City; children, Donna Clabough and Jennie Chattin, both of Spring City; grandchildren, Shannon Brown, Chris Clabough, Lori Chattin and Hannah Chattin; and great-grandchildren, Chase Allred, Jaxon Clabough and Cyler Clabough.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
