Priscilla Sue Jollay Smith, 72, of East Ellijay, Ga., and formerly of Dayton, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019. She was born Jan. 18, 1947, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to Charles and Mary Louise Jollay. Priscilla graduated from Chattanooga City High School in 1965 and married the love of her life, Jim, on Christmas Eve 1965.
She truly had a servant’s heart. Her desire to serve led her to nursing school in 1990. Priscilla retired as ER Director of North Georgia Medical Center in 2009, then went on to serve patients and their families through Georgia Mountains Hospice until 2014. Priscilla was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, and an active member of the church’s Quilting Guild.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James M. Smith Jr.; her children, Melissa (Michael) Garland, of Dayton, and James M. (Bethany) Smith III, of Dayton; and grandchildren, Joshua Garland, Emma Garland, James Smith, and Chloe Smith.
Join in celebrating Priscilla’s life on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Hope Lutheran Church, 3295 Old Highway 5 South, Ellijay, GA 30540. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., service at 3:30 p.m. and a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Lutheran Church Building & Maintenance Fund and/or Georgia Mountains Hospice. The family is being served by Bernhardt Funeral Home, Ellijay, Ga.
