Helen Kunkel, 86, of Spring City, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at her home.
A lifetime resident of Spring City, she was a seamstress and retired from the Athens Silk Mill. Helen enjoyed watching television including cooking shows and wrestling. She loved her family and her special companion, “Misty” the cat. Helen was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Newman; and brother, “Popeye” Newman.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Michael Kunkel, of Spring City; special niece, B. J. Neal, of Spring City; son, Eddie Newman, of Spring City; brother, Slim Newman, of Decatur, Tenn.; sister, Betty Jo Neal, of Spring City; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at the Sewee Church of God Cemetery in Niota, Tenn., with Lesa Frady officiating. There will be no visitation.
