Mary Imogene Harris, 87, of Dayton, passed away early Wednesday morning, Nov. 13, 2019, at her home. She was born on Nov. 28, 1931, in Scottsboro, Ala., the daughter of the late Bruce L. and Margaret Stevenson Cranfill. Imogene was also preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Harris; her brothers, Alvin “Buddy” Cranfill and Wayne Cranfill; and her sister, Jeanette Weller.
Imogene was raised in Dayton. She was a graduate of Rhea Central High School, class of 1950. She married Robert Kenneth Harris in 1950, lived in Charlotte, Mich., and returned to Dayton in 1998. Imogene was a homemaker, a beautician and was a member of Community Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Robert Kenneth Harris, of Dayton; son, Douglas Harris, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; grandson, Brandon Harris, of Jackson, Mich.; brother, Jerry Cranfill, of Dayton Mountain; and sister, Joyce Rothwell of Dayton.
Funeral services for Imogene will be held Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the Vanderwall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Jewell officiating. She will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens.
