Hobert “Hobie” Ancil Newport, 65, of Harriman, Tenn., passed away on Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, at home with his family by his side. He was born May 27, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio. He was a loving and faithful father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved going fishing, watching football, listening to music, and his pet cat, Blackie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenna and Ancil Newport; wife, Rebecca Newport; brother, Kerry Todd Newport; and grandparents, Shirley Hobert (Laura) Cook and Hobert (Bertie) Newport.
He is survived by his daughters, Tonya (David) Kelly, of Rockwood, Tenn., Amanda Newport (fiance, Seth Claiborne), of Crossville, Tenn., and, Jennifer Newport, of Harriman, Tenn.; grandchildren, Karyon and Jayden Kelly, and Hunter and Cameron Sherrill; sister, Angie Newport, of Spring City; brothers, Monte (Becky) Newport, of Spring City, and Randy (Karen) Newport, of Spring City; and several nieces, nephews and other extended families.
The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 13, 2019, from 12 noon to 2 p.m., funeral services at 2 p.m. with Bro. Ronald Cook officiating; and interment to follow at Roane Memorial Garden in Rockwood, Tenn. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Hobert “Hobie” Ancil Newport.
