The Board of Nursing for the Tennessee
Department of Health recently suspended the license of Bonnie Jean Lewallen, a licensed practical
nurse (LPN) from Graysville, for the second time in two years. In January and February of 2008,
Lewallen received an evaluation from the Tennessee Professional Assistance Program (TNPAP),
according to a Consent Order filed by the Tennessee Board of Nursing in December 2008. During the
evaluation, Lewallen allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana and stated that she had no intention of
quitting, according to the Consent Order. Lewallen was already on probation after having her
license suspended in 2007. According to a Consent Order filed in May of that year, Lewallen
allegedly gave Morphine and Dilaudid to a "drug dealer," in exchange for cash. She also
allegedly falsified documentation, indicating that the drugs had been administered to patients,
according to the 2007 legal document. Lewallen's license has been suspended until she can
satisfactorily pass an evaluation with TNPAP. Lewallen was unable to be reached for
comment. Michael Reneau can be contacted at
