Rhea County officers arrested a 40-year-old man and charged him with rape of a child on Friday.

Ricky Lynn Cagle, of Randall Fugate Road northeast of Spring City, was arrested and charged with raping a 10-year-old boy.

The alleged assault took place at Cagle's home early last week, according to Chief Deputy Charles Byrd, who investigates crimes against children for the county. The boy lived in Cagle's neighborhood and had visited his home before, Byrd said.

The arrest was made after an investigation by Byrd and the Tennessee Department of Children's Services.

Cagle is being held in the Rhea County Jail pending payment of a $75,000 bond. He was arraigned in Rhea County General Sessions Court on Tuesday.

Additional charges against Cagle may be presented to the April session of the Rhea County Grand Jury, according to Byrd.
