Man charged with statutory rape

Last updated: 9:58 AM, 07/08/2010

A 47-year-old Graysville man was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with statutory rape with a 16-year-old girl he met while working at a Dayton fast-food restaurant.

The girl contacted Dayton Patrolman Jeff Hill late Saturday evening at the Police Department and told him that three weeks earlier she had sexual contact with Brian Eugene Faucher, 47, at his home on Dayton Avenue in Graysville, according to Rocky Potter, who investigates sex crimes for the Rhea County Sheriff's Department.

When Hill learned the events took place in the county, he contacted Sergeant Davin Payne with the Rhea County Sheriff's Department.

Payne interviewed the girl and learned that the girl and Faucher had struck up an acquaintance while at work and that two separate sexual incidents occurred at his home, according to Potter.

Payne then went to Faucher's place of employment to interview him. Upon searching Faucher's pockets, Payne found a .small 22-caliber North American Arms revolver. The officer arrested Faucher for carrying a weapon with intent to go armed and transported him to the Rhea County Jail.

Potter said that Faucher admitted to having sexual contact with the girl and that his statement supported portions of the girl's statement.

Faucher was released from jail Wednesday after posting a $15,000 bond.

Faucher moved to Graysville from Grand Rapids, Mich., three years ago and has no criminal history, either in Tennessee or Michigan, according to Potter.

Rhea County General Sessions Court Judge Jimmy McKenzie ordered Faucher to have no contact with the girl.

He will be arraigned in General Sessions Court Aug. 9 on the statutory rape charge. Potter said the District Attorney could choose to increase the charge to rape at that time.
