Dayton man arrested on seven counts of sexual assault

Last updated: 9:58 AM, 07/08/2010

Jonathan Eugene Loper, 20, of Dayton, was arrested Monday morning and charged with seven counts of aggravated sexual battery of a child.

Loper is currently being held at the Rhea County Jail. Bond was set at $17,500.

The 9-year-old child, who resided with his parents in the same apartment complex as Loper, told Dayton Police Department Investigator Darrell Bell that Loper had molested him 10 or 11 times.

The child told Bell he had been going to Loper's apartment to play video games.

Bell said Loper was afterward transported to the Dayton Police Department, where he gave a recorded statement that he had molested the child seven times.

Loper will be arraigned in Rhea County General Sessions Court on Friday.
