Dayton man charged with sexually assaulting 2 sisters

Last updated: 9:58 AM, 07/08/2010

A Dayton man has been indicted on a series of sex crime charges for allegedly assaulting two young sisters during the mid-1990s.

Richard Dewayne Jordan, 32, of Magnolia Avenue in Dayton, was indicted by the Rhea County Grand Jury June 5 on four counts of aggravated sexual battery, four counts of aggravated rape, five counts of incest and one count of rape of a child, according to a source with the District Attorney's office.

The case was presented to the grand jury as an original presentment, meaning that Jordan had not been arrested prior to the issuance of the indictment. The victims, now believed to be 16 and 17, presented the evidence against Jordan.

The sexual assaults are alleged to have occurred at two residences in Graysville where the man and the two girls lived four or five years ago. The man apparently lived next door to the sisters for a time.

Jordan was arrested by the Rhea County Sheriff's Department on June 6. He is being held without bond at the Rhea County Jail pending his arraignment in Rhea County General Sessions Court on Friday.

Sale Creek attorney Larry Roddy, who is representing Jordan, said his client will plead not guilty Friday, and he will request a bond be set.

Jordan has a history of sex crime convictions, according to the District Attorney's office.
