The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance [VITA] program offers free tax help for those individuals who generally make $57,000 or less and need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
The IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.
Due to COVID-19 concerns for the public and volunteer’s health, those wishing to take advantage of this service must call and make an appointment.
Beginning on Monday, Feb. 8, volunteers will be accepting calls and making appointments for those interested. Calls will be accepted Monday through Wednesday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
If interested, call (423) 406-8022. If busy, leave a message or try again later. During your phone interview, you will be given instructions on the interview protocol and what items you will be required to bring to your appointment.
