Alzheimer’s Support Group Meeting — An Alzheimer’s support group will meet at Veranda Assisted Living, located at 10055 Rhea County Highway in Dayton (adjacent to Life Care Center of Rhea County), at 2 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Free Child Developmental Screenings — Free developmental screenings are currently being offered for children ages birth to 5-years-old. Screening are conducted by trained early childhood professionals and take approximately 30 minutes. The screenings are provided by Signal Centers, Siskin Children’s Institute and the Tennessee Department of Education TEIS. Call 866-234-6152 to schedule a screening.

Rhea County Fair Association — The Rhea County Fair Association meets the second Tuesday of every month at the fairgrounds across from the high school in the Farm Credit building starting at 7 p.m. For information, call Harold Fisher at 423-280-8330.

Dayton Arts League Meeting — The Dayton Arts League meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Call Suzanne at 903-2773 or Judy at 775-5122 for more information.

Friendship Circle Peer Support Center — The Friendship Circle Peer Support Center is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday to anyone 18 years of age or older who deals with a mental health or co-occuring diagnosis. The center hosts support groups, educational groups, fun activities, and skill development programs to help those individuals cope with their mental health diagnosis. Transportation to and from the center is available. The center is funded by a state grant that is administered by Volunteer Behavioral Health. Upkeep Funds Sought for Dunn Cemetery — The Caretakers of the Dunn Cemetery are seeking funds to assist in the upkeep of the cemetery. Those wishing to contribute may call Mary Johnson at 423-533-2170.

Spring City Stitchers Meeting — The Spring City Stitchers will meet the first and fourth Monday of each month at the Audrey Pack Memorial Library Annex, located on West Rhea Avenue in Spring City. The group gather to support the community by sewing caps, quilts and afghans for newborns. Contact the library at 423-365-9757 for more information.

Hygiene Drive for School Students (Now-12/20) — Hygiene items are being collected to assist local elementary, middle and high school students through Dec. 20. Items sought are toothbrushes & toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant, soap or body wash, shampoo & conditioner, shavers, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products as well as various cleaning products. Locations to drop off these items includes the Rhea County Welcome Center, First Bank, The Herald-News, Amedisys, The Courtyard, Money Concepts, EXIT Realty, the Rhea County United Way office and Simply Bank.

Dayton Lions Club Meeting (12/12) — The Dayton Lions Club will meet on Thursday, Dec. 12, at El Toro Mexican Restaurant, located at 4285 Rhea County Highway in Dayton, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are held the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

Country Music Night at Walden’s Ridge Community Center (12/13) — The Walden’s Ridge Community Center, located at 5364 Dayton Mountain Highway in Dayton, will hold a Country Music Night on Friday, Dec. 13, beginning at 7 p.m. The Kiuka Volunteer Fire Department will provide concessions. Admission is $5 per person and children under six will be admitted free. All proceeds will benefit the community center and the fire department.

Christmas at the Spring City Depot (12/14) — The Town of Spring City will hold their annual Christmas at the Depot featuring the 56th annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include vendors, music, home and business decorating contests and a children’s pageant.

Dayton Lodge #512 F. & A.M. Meeting (12/16) — Dayton Lodge #512 F. & A.M. will meet on Monday, Dec. 16, beginning at 7 p.m. at their Lodge, located on Second Avenue in Dayton. Lodge #512 meets the first and third Monday of each month

Daughters of the American Revolution Meeting (12/19) — The Rhea-Craig Chapter of the American Revolution will meet on Thursday, Dec. 19, at the hold of Marcia Long, beginning at 10 a.m. Carrie Ann Bright will serve as hostess. Spring City American Legion Post 203 Meeting (12/21) — Spring City American Legion Post 203 monthly meeting will not be held for the month of December. In lieu of the meeting, the group will prepare food boxes for distribution to the community’s veterans and families on Dec. 21. Post 203 meets on the third Thursday of each month. Rhea County Republican Party Meeting (1/9) — The Rhea County Republican Party will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Jan. 9 at the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department Training Center, located at 711 Eagle Lane in Evensville, beginning at 7 p.m.

Youth Talent Show at Walden’s Ridge Community Center (2/8) — The Walden’s Ridge Community Center, located at 5364 Dayton Mountain Highway in Dayton, will hold their Fourth Annual Youth Talent Show on Saturday, Feb. 8, beginning at 5 p.m. Admission is $5 per person and children under six will be admitted free.
