A Rhea County sheriff’s deputy was shot Thursday night while responding to reports of domestic violence, and the alleged shooter is in custody, according to reports.
Keith Miller, 55, is facing a variety of charges related to the shooting.
Sheriff’s deputies and officers with the Dayton Police Department responded to the call on Morgan Springs Road at around 10:15 p.m.
Reports state that deputies learned that Miller might be armed and retreated from the home.
As they were retreating, reports state that Miller fired from inside the home, striking a Rhea County Sheriff’s Department deputy.
Sheriff’s department officials said that the injury was non life-threatening and that deputies were able to apprehend Miller without returning fire.
Miller was charged with three counts of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault and domestic assault.
