The Spring City Chamber of Commerce recently announced it has cancelled the Christmas parade, originally set for Saturday, Dec. 12.
“We are saddened to announce that, after consulting with our local authorities and health department, we have decided to cancel the traditional Christmas parade,” chamber officials said. “This decision was made due to the increasing COVID-19 cases in and around Rhea County. The risk of spreading more than Christmas cheer to our loved ones is unfortunately one that we cannot take.”
Instead, chamber officials said, the parade will move to a virtual format.
“The virtual parade will give us the ability to share our Christmas spirit with the community and to do it safely,” officials said. “We would like nothing more than if you, your business, or group/organization would submit a picture of your float, group or organization to us. In this picture, show us your best version of why Christmas is essential! We will compile all our entries and would love to feature it in our virtual parade that will be released on De. 12.”
