Nokian Tyres has begun the second stage of hiring at its factory in Rhea County, where it is preparing to launch a second shift of production. The global tire company plans to hire upwards of 50 team members starting in September.

Potential applicants can visit to apply. Those who previously applied for jobs at the factory do need to re-apply to indicate their willingness to work a night shift.

The global tire company is pursuing candidates to work in its mixing, tire production, quality, maintenance and logistics areas, and those interested in performing tasks related to general factory overhead. Most production positions require the following qualifications:

• High school diploma and/or GED

• Associate’s degree from an accredited community, technical or vocational college preferred

• 1-to-2 years of direct experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

• Experience with lean/process improvement tools and/or interest in advancing knowledge in this area

“We’re eager to welcome new employees to our team,” said Nokian Tyres HR Operations Manager Blake Markham. “In the second phase of hiring, our goal is to find hard-working team players who want to join our mission to build some of the safest, most sustainable products in the tire industry.”

All Nokian Tyres employees at the Dayton Factory are required to wear masks while inside, are screened daily for Covid-19 symptoms, and possible exposure to others. It is paramount that we all do our part to create a safe work environment and protect our community.

The upcoming addition of a second shift is the latest milestone in a series of recent achievements at the factory. In April the factory earned ISO 9001 quality certification just six months after officially opening. In May, the team celebrated one year without a lost-time injury at the facility.

Nokian Tyres ultimately plans to hire approximately 400 employees to produce tires and oversee operations at the Dayton factory, which is its first production facility in North America. The global premium tire company is among the industry’s leaders in safety and sustainability.

The company seeks to build a positive culture for its employees. Workers will be exposed to some of the most advanced production machinery and processes in the tire industry, and Nokian Tyres aims to build an environment that helps them develop professionally.
