Rhea County High School Principal Jesse Messimer will be leaving his post as principal of the high school to take another position in the county school system, officials said on Friday.
Rhea County Director of Schools Jerry Levengood said that Messimer’s future role in the county school is currently undecided. School officials will announce Messimer’s new position once it has been established.
Levengood also said that the school system is advertising for the position of Rhea County High School principal.
On Friday, Messimer said that he had enjoyed his time as principal and was looking forward to his new role. He said that with school currently being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was unfortunate he was not able to directly let students know about his decision.
“It’s unfortunate I’m not able to tell the students themselves at school,” he said. “I will be staying on the education side of the county school system, so I won’t be too far away.”
