Mary Ellen Miles, 85, of Dayton, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020, at Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Mary was born on July 14, 1935, in Lancaster, Ohio. She retired as the Buckeye, Ariz., Deputy Town Clerk in 1997. She then moved to Dayton to be close to family. She attended Dayton Church of Christ. Mary volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at the Senior Citizen Center. She was a member of the American Legion, Moose Club, and Eagles.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, William Clagg and Ester Juanita Clagg Rutter; and siblings, Ron Clagg, Lynn Clagg, Tony Clagg, and Sandy Friesner.
She is survived by her children, Vicki (Ron) Nelson, of Hixson, Tenn., Jim Sylvester, of Dayton, Jo (Duane) Martin, of Kalispell, Mont., Sherri Shearer, of Loudonville, Ohio; siblings, Sue Griffin and Deb (Mark) Houseworth, both of Lancaster, Ohio, and Nick Clagg, of Hebron, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga. The family would also like to thank Hospice for the care and support given to our beloved mother at such a difficult time. They appreciate every person who helped with her care, specially her doctor-Dr Yeager-and her amazing nurse, Kirby Hale.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
