Wilbur G. Harris Jr., 71, died Saturday, July 3, 2021 at CHI Memorial Hospital of Chattanooga.
Wilbur was born on Dec. 15, 1949, to the late Wilbur Green Harris Sr. and Sallie Tatum Hale Harris. He was a resident of Rhea County since 1985. Wilbur was a graduate of Marion County High School and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked at TVA–Watts Bar as a nuclear plant operator and retired in 2000. Wilbur enjoyed benchrest shooting for which he won awards and received several plaques, participating in matches all over the country. He was of the Methodist faith.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Gayle Harris.
Survivors include his son Elmer Harris of Spring City; daughter, Betsy Ann Bahr of Orlando, Fla.; sister, Dava Lusk of Huntsville, Ala.; and two grandchildren, Grace Condra and Fletcher Green Harris.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday, July 8, 2021, at 1 p.m. EST at Smith Cemetery in Powell Crossroads, Tenn.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 7, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
