Joyce Davenport Thurman, 87, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at Spring City Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on Nov. 16, 1932, Joyce was a lifetime resident of Spring City. She was a graduate of Bledsoe County High School. Joyce was a seamstress and worked for SSM Manufacturing in Spring City before retiring. She loved to sew, quilt and cook for various church activities. Joyce was a member of Spring City Church of God.
She was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Gertie Wright Roberts; her husband of 17 years, Kenneth Davenport; her brothers, Falvis Roberts and Dennis Roberts; and her sister, Genevie Balcom.
She is survived by her daughters, Loretta (Ron) Masterson of Spring City, Nina (Jerry) Daniel of Pikeville, Tenn., and Annette (Joe) Kimery of Chattanooga, Tenn.; brother, Herschel Roberts of Dayton; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Smith and Rev. Allen Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Long Cemetery in Spring City.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
