Thomas “Tom” Howard Louallen of Dayton passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at the age of 78 after several years of courageously battling cancer.
Tom was born in Dayton on July 13, 1943, to father Ace Louallen and mother Molly Couch Louallen. While he had to end his formal education early in order to join his siblings in supporting their family, Tom was skilled in several trades, became a master welder and supervisor and was able to support the growth and education of his own family of children and grandchildren, whom he loved unconditionally, in word and deed.
Over the years, Tom was an avid bowler, a committed fan of UT sports and the Atlanta Braves, and he became a great lover of the outdoors, especially state and national parks.
His recent joys included visiting Grand Canyon and Everglades national parks and getting to watch a second Atlanta Braves championship!
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; bothers, Earl Leuallen, Patsy Stinnett, Johnny Louallen, Jim Louallen, Sam Lewallen, and Andy Turner, his sister Edwina Farmer, his widow of too few years Loretta Louallen; his first widow, Linda Louallen; and, to his great sorrow, his grandson, Jarred LaFuze.
Tom is survived by his children, Cindy Burdette, Becky Dunn and Jeff Louallen; grandchildren, Justin LaFuze, Megan Roberts, Cole Dunn and Jade Hope; great-grandchildren, Jasper McGinnis and Kendall Hilliard; sisters, Geraldine Filyaw and Susan Arther; son-in-law, Jeff Burdette; and first wife, friend and loving mother of his children, Carolyn Sneed.
A visitation for Tom is planned for Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Coulter Garrison Funeral Home located at 1670 Market Street in Dayton.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
