Avery C. Reed, 76, of Grandview, died Monday, April 5, 2021, at his home.
Born on Dec. 13, 1944, in Cumberland County, Tenn., Avery was a lifetime resident of Grandview. He was a graduate of Spring City High School “Class of 1962”. Avery moved to Ohio and worked for Rigid Tool and then moved back to Tennessee to work for La-Z-Boy Corporation until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, tending to his grapevines, squirrel hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. Avery attended Reed’s Chapel Church of God in Grandview.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Reed; and brother, Benton Reed.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Reed of Grandview; mother, Masel Godsey Reed of Grandview; children, Teressa (Mike) McKinney of Knoxville, Tenn., and Scott (Mary) Reed, Eric (April) Reed and Jason (Susan) Reed, all of Spring City; brothers, Johnny Reed of Grandview and Allen Reed of Hamilton, Texas; sisters, Jane Fugate of Evensville, Bonnie Fisher of Jonesboro, Texas, Jewell Beasley, Stella Harrison, Kathy Cawood and Mary Jackson, all of Spring City; grandchildren, Cameron Reed, Alivia Massie, Lily Reed, Dillon Reed, Holli McKinney, Chase Reed, Madalyn McKinney, Jaxon Reed, Ashley Reed and Abi Germany; and great-grandchildren, Zoey Massie and Maverick Reed.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Reed’s Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Greg Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery.
