Garner Reed, 73, of Grandview, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at his home.

Born on Jan. 21, 1947, in Rockwood, Tenn., Garner was the son of the late Raymond Reed and Pearl Reed White. He was a graduate of Spring City High School. Garner served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, afterwards he attended Roane State Community College. Garner worked at TVA as an ironworker at Watts Bar and Sequoyah, retiring in 2003. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and working in his yard. Garner especially enjoyed time with his family and loved to spoil his grandkids. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Grandview.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Margie Mincy; and his brother, Allen Reed.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth F. Reed of Grandview; son, Boyd (Sherry) Reed of Grandview; daughter, Amanda (Don) Janow of Spring City; four brothers, Dorvin (Sandra) Reed of Spring City, Cledious (Sharon) Reed of Grandview, Clell (Brenda) Reed of Grandview and Hargis (Darlene) Reed of Dayton; six grandchildren, Chasity Morgan, Trevor Reed, Heather Richardson, Justin Janow, Ashley Prokop and Becca Janow; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Zimmerman and Rev. Glen Smith officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Stebbins Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19 concerns, masks will be required at the visitation and the service.
