Joseph Sherril Sears, 84 a longtime resident of Spring City passed away peacefully at his home April 27, 2020.
He was born in Bedford, Ind., on March 9, 1936, and was preceded in death by his father, Fred M. Sears and Geneva L Bailey; his brother, Allen Sears, of Fort Mitchell, Ala.; sister-in-law, Angelyn Sears; and grandchildren, Wanda Purple and David Purple.
He was a member of the U.S. Army serving as a medic and pharmacy technician. He served his community as an Emergency Medical Technician, a License Practical Nurse and went on to be in the first graduating class for Physician’s Assistant at the Medical College of Georgia.
He was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and involved in the nonprofit Flea Market Book Ministry. He worked many years at the Spring City Walk-in Clinic until he retired in 2018 at the age of 82.
He was cherished by all whose lives he touched and is terribly missed. He is survived by his wife, Brenda J Sears; sons by love, Jim Purple and Jonathan Purple; daughters, Sherri Winterble and Wanda Kirkpatrick; son Joseph AA Sears; grandchildren, Jillian Winterble, Luke Winterble, Dustin Sears, Victor S Kirkpatrick, Deanna Walker and Colton J Sears; great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Martha Bennett, Sue Potter and June York; and brother-in-law, Mark Simpson.
A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 4, 2020, at Spring City Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 1548 Cemetery Road, at 3:30 p.m. with fellowship, memories and food. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
