Rhea County High School senior Lady Eagle basketball player, and Samford University signee, Mallory Hampton, added another accolade to her basketball resume on Tuesday, as she was named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association First Team All-State Team.
Hampton was recently named to the Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of Preps’ Team, which includes the area’s top players.
In Mid-March, Hampton was also selected to the TN Report All-State Team.
Hampton, who averaged 22 points, seven rebounds, four steals and four assists per game during the 2019-20 season, was also named District 6-AAA Player of the Year, which made her third consecutive year in winning the honor.
Hampton also became a member of the 2,000-point club on Friday, Feb. 14, at Cookeville High School. She averaged 26.4 points per game in the Lady Eagles’ last five games, bringing her high school career total to 2,148 points.
Hampton helped guide the Lady Eagles to a 24-6 overall record this past season, as the Lady Eagles were District 6-AAA runner-ups and Region 3-AAA semifinalists.
