The Rhea County High School Eagle wrestling team recently traveled and competed in a tri-match hosted by the Chattanooga Central Purple Pounders, as the Eagles ended the night with a 1-1 record, claiming a 40-12 victory over Central, but fell 48-30 to the East Hamilton Hurricanes.

RCHS vs. Central

Rhea’s Allen Graham pinned his opponent for six points in the 120-pound division, as teammate Joel Manzano earned a decision win worth four points over his opponent in the 138-pound weight class.

Devon Dunigan (152 lb.) and Jeffrey Cross (160 lb.) earned six points apiece for the Eagles with pins over their opponents.

Rhea’s Francisco Perez (182 lb.), Braden Edwards (195 lb.) and Ethan Robinson (220 lb.) collected forfeit wins, totaling 18 points.

Competing, but suffering losses for the Eagles were Trent Quinn and Landen King.

RCHS vs. East Hamilton

Collecting wins by forfeits and all of Rhea’s 30 points were Marcus Garcia (132 lb.), Manzano (138 lb.), Perez (182 lb.), Edwards (195 lb.) and Robinson.

Rhea’s Graham, Quinn, Dunigan, Cross and King competed but fell to their opponents.

In earlier action

The weekend prior to the tri-match at Central, the Eagle mat men competed in the Ooltewah High School Duals, held at OHS.

Graham (126 lb.), Quinn (145 lb.) and Perez (182 lb.) pinned their opponents for the win, while Manzano earned a decision win for the Eagles.

Competing, but suffering losses on the day were Dunigan, King, Edwards and Robinson.

In exhibition matches, Caleb Hickman (132 lb.), Marcus Garcia (132 lb.) and Roy Prescott (182 lb.) pinned their opponents for the win.
