The Rhea Middle School Eagle wrestling team wrapped up the season by competing and finishing in fourth place at the Southeast Tennessee Athletic Conference tournament on Friday, Dec. 11 and Saturday, Dec. 12, hosted by Lake Forest Middle School.

Ace Robinson (123 lb.) and Dillion Johnson (165 lb.) each earned first-place individual honors for the Eagles. Kole Mickel (115 lb.) and Kris McGinnis (140 lb.) placed second in their individual weight divisions.

Placing fourth individually in their respective weight classes were Chayce Smith (100 lb.), Haiden Futrell (220 lb.) and Keagan Smith (Hwt.). Competing, but not placing were Elijah Anderson (130 lb.) and River Hickman (150 lb.).

RMS head coach, Cory Canada, praised his wrestlers for their efforts in a tough tournament.

“We took nine wrestlers out of 14 to one of the hardest middle school region tournaments in Tennessee,” explained Canada. “We had five wrestlers that are first-year wrestlers. The boys wrestled their tails off and I couldn’t be prouder of them!”
