Members of the Rhea County High School and Middle School Eagle Anglers recently hosted and competed in the third stop of the Tennessee Bass Nation High School/Youth State Tournament, which launched out of the Dayton Boat Dock onto Lake Chickamauga.
Three Rhea junior Eagle Angler fishing teams secured a top 10 finish in the junior division. Blake James and Turner Tharpe snagged the No. 2 spot by catching one fish worth 4.31 pounds. Tharpe reeled in the 4.31 pound bass to capture the 'Big Fish' award for the day.
Rhea's Amos Goins and Evan Williamson grabbed fourth place honors in the junior division with a bass weight of 3.81 pounds. Junior Eagle Anglers, Owen Ray and Austin Hall, rounded out the top 10 with a tenth place finish and bass weight of 2.06 pounds.
Hunter Presley and James Gravitte were Rhea County High School Eagle Anglers' top finishing team on the day with a haul of three bass weighing 8.88 pounds. They finished in the No. 25 spot in the event.
Other high school Eagle Angler teams included: David Derlak and Will Travis (32nd), four bass at 7.68 pounds; Andon Goins and Blake Wheat (39th), three bass at 6.64; Tanner McClain and Garrett White (40th), three bass at 6.63; Ben Hester and Mason Caldwell (85th), one bass at 1.86 pounds.
