BROTHER GOLFING DUO REPRESENT THE RCHS EAGLES AT CITY INVITE

Kevin Rothwell, a senior golfer for the Rhea County High School Eagle golf team, along with his teammate and brother, Matthew Rothwell, a freshman, competed in the City Prep Invitational, hosted by the Harrison Bay Bear Trace golf course on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

In an invite only, 18-hole competition, that brought out 57 of the best high school golfers in the greater Chattanooga area, the Rothwells represented the Eagle golf team well, with Kevin finishing the day tied for eighth place and Matthew tied for 21st place.

Kevin Rothwell shot a 75, 3-over-par, a 38 on the front nine and a 37 on the back nine, which included two birdies, one being a chip-in on hole 18 to finish the day.

Matthew Rothwell finished the day with a 79, a 39 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine.

Beck Lewis, from Signal Mountain High School, shot a 2-under-par, 70, to claim first-place honors.

Players from schools such as Baylor, McCallie, Signal Mountain, East Hamilton, and Ooltewah also competed in the event. The Baylor team won the overall event with a combined 6-over-par score.

The Rhea boys’ team record is 16-7 on the season, while the Rhea girls’ team record is 4-6. The Eagle golfers will host Cumberland County High School and Livingston Academy in an 18-hole tri-match on Monday, Sept. 14, beginning at 2 p.m.
